The butterflies and hummingbirds will love the wonderfully fragrant flower panicles that grow from 6 to 12 inches in length and come all summer long to frost! As with all butterfly bush, this one is drought tolerant when established and deer turn their nose up to it.Â
Landscape & Garden Uses
Royal Red Butterfly bush grows well in both garden beds and pots in landscapes. In the ground, its 6 foot height with an equal or slightly wider spread make it an ideal choice for large garden spaces In containers it doesn’t grow as large. It is ideal for use as a specimen, in groupings, or massed in landscape borders, flowering shrub borders and perennial gardens. A natural choice for butterfly and hummingbird gardens, Xeriscape gardens (low water needs), and red-themed color gardens.

Growing Preferences
Royal Red Butterfly Bush makes a beautiful flowering specimen in full to mostly sun and isn’t too picky about soil type, provided the soil is well-drained. Great for use as a single specimen, in perennial gardens, and near sitting areas where the butterflies and hummingbirds can be viewed as they flock to the honey-scented flowers.Very easy to grow!Â
