As with all butterfly bush, this one is drought tolerant when established and deer turn their nose up to it.

Landscape & Garden Uses

Royal Red Butterfly bush grows well in both garden beds and pots in landscapes. In the ground, its 6 foot height with an equal or slightly wider spread make it an ideal choice for large garden spaces In containers it doesn’t grow as large. It is ideal for use as a specimen, in groupings, or massed in landscape borders, flowering shrub borders and perennial gardens. A natural choice for butterfly and hummingbird gardens, Xeriscape gardens (low water needs), and red-themed color gardens.

Suggested Spacing: 4-6′ for solid hedges or mass plantings; 9′ or more for space between plants
